Brown bottles provide the greatest protection against skunking because they block out the most UV light, which is the main cause of flavor-altering "skunky" beer. Blue bottles may also provide some protection, but not as much as brown bottles. Clear bottles offer no protection against UV light and green bottles offer limited protection.
